Movements, promotions and new appointments in the Australia China business community.
After nine years in China, ANZ China CEO Andrew (Jock) McGregor and his wife Vicki, General Manager, Charmante Jewellery, are returning to Australia. Jock is retiring after more than 40 years with the bank. He will be succeeded by Christine Ip, who was most recently the Country Head of Consumer Banking for China with Standard Chartered Bank.
After six years in Shanghai, Paul Jones, Vice President of BlueScope Lysaght Residential is returning to Australia. Paul has spent the last 13 years in Asia (China, Vietnam and Malaysia). Paul has returned to Melbourne to take up the position of Manager Business Development Residential.
After more than seven years in Shanghai, Nigel Godde and his family will be returning to Australia. Nigel has been the General Manager of Michell Suzhou Wool Co., one of Australia's oldest wool companies, for the past 2.5 years, and was responsible for setting up the company's wool processing operation. Nigel is relocating to Michell's Adelaide headquarters as General Manager of Group Operations.
Marcus Tehan has relocated to Singapore with Jones Lang LaSalle as Head of Sustainability (Asia Pacific) for Project and Development Services after three years in Shanghai. Marcus's primary role is advising clients on high performance buildings such as Green Ratings, Reviews and Certification Management. Marcus is originally from Melbourne.
Julia Payne, Marketing Communications Manager, Haworth Asia Pacific, Middle East & Latin America, is also relocating to Singapore from Shanghai. Julia will continue in her current role, overseeing regional marketing communications and will be returning to China on a regular basis. Julia is also from Melbourne.
Leighton Asia has restructured its business operations into two geographically focused business units. The two business units will be headed up by executive general managers, Ian Edwards (Hong Kong, Macau, China and Taiwan) and Iain Speirs (Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Mongolia). As part of the new arrangements, Bruce Gardiner has relocated from Beijing to head up the Mongolian office which was opened in August 2007.
Amanda Duggan has recently joined the Sensis/Telstra team in Beijing as Group Manager, Strategy and Business Development. Amanda has relocated from Melbourne. Her role is to work with the team to define the long term growth strategy for China.
Tiffany Braisby, chief executive officer of Property Executives International, has recently relocated to Shanghai to head up the company's new China representative office. Tiffany is currently specializing in project marketing, selling new developments throughout Australia in China.
Karen Jamvold has been appointed Executive General Manager Workforce Development at WesTrac China taking responsibility for human resources, training and safety across the company. Karen has relocated from Perth where she was the Managing Director of Curtin University’s training arm.
Danny Kane, the former manager of China World Hotel's Aria restaurant and bar in Beijing, is relocating to Thailand to take up a position with the Cher Fah Hotel in Koah Lak. Danny's role at Aria involved assisting AustCham Beijing with its weekly Friday night drinks. Danny is originally from Adelaide.
Indira Losada Rodriguez has joined the team at AustCham Beijing in the role of Australia-China Young Leaders Program Coordinator where she is overseeing AIESEC's internship program for Australian graduates looking for internships in China. Indira recently completed an Arts/Commerce degree at Curtin University of Technology in WA.
