The first round application process for the Prime Minister’s 2010 Australia Asia Endeavour Awards – an initiative in response to last year’s 2020 Summit – has begun. Under the project, 40 scholarships will be awarded annually to Australian graduate and postgraduate level university students to undertake one year of study in Asia followed by an internship or work placement. A further 10 scholarships at PhD level will be awarded preferably to Asian students for study in Australia. China (including Hong Kong and Macau SARs); India; Indonesia; Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam have all been identified as priority locations for both incoming and outgoing scholars. Universities and other Australian providers of higher education will be asked to nominate up to five candidates for the outgoing scholarships.
