The event congratulated the 54 finalists for this year’s awards which include the President of Bosch, China, the President of Nankai University, two popular TV personalities, the President of General Motors, China and the Director of Finance at Yum! Brands China. The Australian China Alumni Association / CPA Australia China Alumni Awards was established in 2009 to recognise alumni of Australian universities, both Chinese and international, and the contributions that they are making to China’s society and economy in a variety of fields. The awards cover nine categories, ranging from entrepreneurship, research and innovation, banking and finance, to women in leadership, and development. The event was hosted by Australian Commissioner General to Expo, Lyndall Sachs, who highlighted the ongoing importance of education in the Australia-China relationship. In 2009, over 120,000 Chinese students studied in Australia, more than from any other country.
