The Australian Youth Orchestra has visited Beijing as part of its July China tour and in conjunction with Imagine Australia, the Year of Australian Culture in China.

As well as conducting a private and intimate concert at the Australian Embassy, the Australian Youth Orchestra treated members of the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Beijing to a special performace over lunch at Capital M before performing at the city’s famous National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing .

It was the AYO’s first tour to China, with performances at the Shanghai Concert Hall, the Tianjin Grand Theatre, and at the Prestigious National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. 

The AYO is one of the world’s most prestigious and innovative training organisations for young pre-professional musicians.

The orchestra nurtures the musical development of Australia’s finest young instrumentalists across metropolitan and regional Australia: from the emerging, gifted, school-aged student, to those on the verge of a professional career. ■
