Shen Quan was greeted by Commissioner-General, Lyndall Sachs, and Australian mascot, Peng Peng and given an Australian opal pendant worth RMB 4,500 to commemorate the event. "To have welcomed one million visitors to the Australian pavilion less than a month into the Shanghai World Expo demonstrates the value of the Government’s investment in Expo, and confirms our good relationship with China,” Ms Sachs said. "Australians can be proud of this stunning achievement. It demonstrates how well our entertaining and engaging exhibitions, and of course the warm welcome from our enthusiastic bilingual staff, resonate with visitors,” said Ms Sachs. Since opening, the Australian pavilion has remained among the top five most popular pavilions. The Australian pavilion hopes to welcome seven million visitors over the course of the Expo. |
