Meanwhile, Chinese media has announced that Adelaide Zoo will receive a pair of giant pandas from China by the end of the year. The assurance was made during Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang’s recent visit to Australia during a meeting with Australian Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard. The chosen pair, Wangwang and Funi, currently reside at the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda in southwest China's Sichuan Province. |
Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo has formerly opened its Australian exhibit, now home to a number of native Australian animals including kangaroos and emus. The zoo has worked closely with zoologist and founder of the Golden Bird Foundation’s Dr Carin Harrington to develop an enclosure featuring environmentally friendly water and land designs. |
