Our client is a leading non-life insurance company in Asia with a long history and a strong global network making it one of the largest non-life players in the world. It has maintained a presence in China for some considerable time and the business has witnessed steady growth as the market continues to open to foreign insurance companies. The company is now looking for an experienced Marine Underwriter to join their team in China and help grow the existing client base.

The individual should have a strong underwriting background and demonstrate stable performance. In addition strong management experience and the ability to build, train and manage a team of subordinates will be necessary. This position will be based in Shanghai and will have the following attributes.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Work as a Marine Underwritier (Senior Supervisor).
• Coordinate with Corporate Marine Underwriters regarding new product development and optimization of existing products
• Responsible for leading subordinates and building teams.
• Conduct underwriting in accordance with the underwriting authority regulations.
• Assist the department head to coordinate internally with other departments in considering the overall profitability of accounts.
• Assist the department head to train and develop Underwriters in the Marine area and ensure subordinates have a development plan relevant to their needs

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Bachelor degree or above
• Minimum 3 years working experience in Marine insurance, Marine broking, Marine claims, Marketing or Non-Marine Underwriting in China
• Excellent command of written & spoken English
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Capable of leading daily operations
