SENIOR PUBLIC AFFAIRS AND CULTURE OFFICER

Location: Australian Embassy, Beijing
Level: LE7 (Expat), annual salary range RMB267,688
Status: Full-time contract position
Commencement date: ASAP

Job Description

The Australian Embassy in Beijing seeks expressions of interest from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacancy of Senior Public Affairs and Culture Officer. The position reports to the Counsellor (Public Affairs and Culture). Travel within China will be required. Main duties will include:

Advising and assisting Australian cultural organisations to mount cultural events or establish cultural relationships in China.
Arranging cultural events for the Embassy.
Supporting implementation of the Year of Australian Culture in China (2010-11) and related activities.
Managing the Embassy's on-going film and literary promotional activities.
Preparing reports and publicity materials for Embassy events.
Monitoring developments in the Australian and Chinese arts industries.
Assisting the Embassy's public affairs and media program.
Occasional translation and interpreting tasks.

Key attributes will include the ability to organise major cultural and other events, knowledge of Australian and Chinese cultural scenes, excellent organisational, communication and negotiation skills, and a high level of fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
